What is the difference between ECR and non ECR passport?

There are two types of candidates for passport application first is ECR and second is Non ECR. ECR means Emigration Check Required, it means a person who has not passed 10th grade officially. On the other hand, Non ECR stands for Emigration Check not Required, Non ECR means you do not need to take emigration clearance.

How can I remove emigration check required from Passport?

First check if you have an Emigration Check required stamp on your passport. If you have ECR and are eligible to get it removed, you need to apply for a fresh passport. Select ‘Change in Personal Particulars’ ‘Removal of ECR Stamp’. Unfortunately, applying for a new passport is the only option.

What is the meaning of ECR in passport?

Passports with endorsement – Emigration Check Required (ECR). Passports with endorsement – Emigration Check Not Required (ECNR). For passports issued before January 2007, no notation in the passport means ECR. For passports issued in or after January 2007, no notation in the passport means ECNR.
